MARGARET R. BRAKE is a Senior Consultant for Bixler Consulting Group, Inc. She has extensive experience in leadership development and organizational effectiveness and has worked with a wide variety of industries including financial services, telecommunications, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, government, and non-profit. Ms. Brake specializes in helping executives and their teams develop the skills and strategies needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance.
A highly effective workshop facilitator, consultant, and executive coach, she has coached managers and executives at all levels. Her focus is specifically on effective communication skills, political savvy, executive presence, motivating teams and individuals, and leading and managing change. She is most recognized for her ability to help leaders identify and leverage their strengths while minimizing potential liabilities and derailers to career success.
Ms. Brake has held executive-level positions in leadership development and organizational effectiveness at Bank of America, Bass Hotels and Resorts, and MCI Telecommunications. In these roles, she has been highly successful in developing leaders at all levels of the organization and has designed enterprise-wide processes to support the development of leaders including performance management, talent planning, management development, and training. She has also led major organizational changes to reduce costs, drive business growth, and respond to changing customer needs. In addition to her internal corporate experience, Ms. Brake has provided consulting to Fortune 500, private, and non-profit organizations including First Horizon National Corporation, Dupont, Provident Life and Accident Insurance, Coca-Cola Bottling, Hoechst-Celanese, Air Products, Chick-fil-A, First Tennessee, and Hampton Inns.
Ms. Brake holds an M.B.A. in Management and an M.S. in Counseling from Georgia State University. She has a B.S. in Psychology cum laude from the University of Florida. Ms. Brake is certified to administer a number of leadership and personality assessment instruments including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument, the Hogan, and Personnel Decisions International's Executive Assessment. She has published articles in major professional journals.
She is an active member of her community and serves as a mentor to mid-level businesswomen in the Georgia 100® mentoring program.
