Susan Bixler Biography

Susan BixlerSusan Bixler is a widely recognized author, speaker, executive coach, and a frequently quoted expert in the area of  leadership development. As CEO and founder of Bixler Consulting Group, her company was one of the first to focus on the communication and leadership requirements of corporations and businesses. Established in 1980, Bixler Consulting Group works with over 1,500 companies nationally and internationally in 15 industries.

Susan has been referenced by the national media as a leading expert in her area. Her advice has been quoted in Time, Newsweek, USA Today, People Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, National Public Radio, Glamour, Vogue, Working Woman and 70 other national publications. Susan has been interviewed by Diane Sawyer, Oprah Winfrey, Maria Shriver, Good Morning America, and The Wall Street Journal Report.  

She won the distinguished 1992 IMMIE Award presented by the Image Industry Council for her contributions to the industry. She was honored in 1996 as the first woman inducted into the Louisville Hall of Fame for her professional achievements and is also an Alumni of Merit from her college. Susan was a finalist for Small Business Person of the Year in 2010 and 2011 Woman of Excellence honoree for Business to Business Magazine. She has been a featured media spokesperson for WABE  public broadcasting, Clairol, Australian Diamonds, and Braun.

As an author, Susan has sold over 300,000 copies of her seven best-selling books, including The Professional Image and Professional Presence, published by G. P. Putnam and Berkeley. Professional Presence has been translated into eight languages. Her third  book, TAKE ACTION!: 18 Proven Strategies for Advancing in Today’s Changing Business World has been translated into Chinese, German and Russian. Ms. Bixler’s fourth book, The New Professional Image: From Business Casual to the Ultimate Power Look, was published in 1997 and her fifth book, 5 Steps to Professional Presence: How to Project Confidence, Competence and Credibility was published in 2001, both by Adams Media.  Her sixth book, The New Professional Image, 2nd edition was published by Adams Media in April 2005. Her seventh book, The Power of Feedback was published by Westchester Publishing in 2011.

Susan graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College with degrees in English and Education. Ms. Bixler is a member of the Atlanta Metro Chamber of Commerce and The Cornerstone Society. She is on the  board of directors and the executive committee of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and a member of The Clark Howard Society. Bixler Consulting Group helped sponsor the 1001 Atlanta Habitat house. Susan is on the board of directors for The Georgian Club. She is active with The Hunger Project, Women for Women, Families First, Glimmer of Hope, Kitski Orphanage, 100 Shares, Eagle Ranch, and Camp CEO.
